The 132/230 kV Abarkooh Substation was officially energized on November 10, 2019 by the Minister of Energy, Dr. Ardakanian, and his accompanying delegation.
To reduce losses, increase reliability and stability of the transmission network, supply electricity to major industries such as the Aliabad Copper Mine, and ensure reliable power for the region, the construction of a 132/230 kV transmission substation with a capacity of 2×125 MVA was placed on the agenda of Yazd Regional Electricity Company.
Following the necessity of this project, Yazd Regional Electricity Company awarded Moshanir Company the contract for engineering consultancy and site supervision services for the construction of the 66/132/230 kV Abarkooh Substation under contract No. 124/91 dated August 27, 2012. Subsequently, a Value Engineering Workshop was held on September 24, 2012, reviewing the consultant’s data and experts’ input to ensure optimal cost efficiency. On March 16, 2013, detailed engineering design services for civil works and HV/LV equipment were officially assigned to Moshanir under contract No. 91/166.
For project execution, all design documents—including drawings and calculations for civil works, high‑voltage equipment, and protection and control systems—were prepared by specialized teams of the Transmission and Distribution Division. Effective and continuous coordination between design teams, manufacturers, and contractors, as well as resolving issues during construction and implementation, were among the key challenges successfully managed by Moshanir’s project team.
