Visit of the deputies and accompanying delegation from the Office of Technical and Executive System of Projects, Plan and Budget Organization, to the Meshgin Shahr Geothermal Power Plant Project

Date : 2023/07/03 |  Visit Count : ۱
Following the invitation extended to the esteemed President and accompanying delegation of the Office of Technical and Executive System of Projects, Plan and Budget Organization, a visit was conducted to the Meshgin Shahr Geothermal Power Plant Project, commissioned by the Thermal Power Generation Holding Company. This project is considered unique in terms of engineering technology, and its implementation under sanctions stands as one of Moshanir Company’s proud achievements.
On Saturday, June 24, 2023, the visit was carried out by deputies, the head of group, and experts from the Office of Technical and Executive System of Projects of the Plan and Budget Organization, as well as the head of the Technical and Executive System of the Plan and Budget Organization of Ardabil Province. The delegation was hosted by Moshanir Company, with the participation of the CEO, Deputy for Generation Projects, Deputy for Contracts and Market Development, the Project Manager, the Marketing Expert, and the representative of the client.
Given the importance of this power plant in utilizing renewable geothermal energy for electricity generation instead of fossil fuels, and its advanced and unique technology in Iran, the project specifications and energy production process were introduced through a presentation by the client and the late Dr. Mali, who served as the supervising head of Moshanir. The innovative nature of this type of power plant was warmly welcomed by the guests.
The project, initiated in 1995 with feasibility studies, basic studies, detailed design, and construction, is expected to be commissioned by November of this year upon completion of equipment installation. To date, engineering progress has exceeded 99 percent.
Moshanir Company has continuously served as consultant under three supervision contracts (in 2000, 2003, and 2006). Despite sanctions and the withdrawal of other consultants (Lahmeyer and PNOC), Moshanir has solely borne responsibility for the project.
After the project introduction and Q&A session, a field visit was conducted to review facilities, equipment, and physical progress.
The project has created positive impacts in the region, including:
•     Construction of 13.5 km of access roads
•     Improvement of the Meshgin Shahr–Moeil road over 15 km
•     Reinforcement of the 20 kV grid lines
•     Job creation in the region
•     Establishment of green spaces
Following the site visit and lunch, the guests also visited the Meshgin Shahr Suspension Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the Middle East (365 meters). All participants expressed satisfaction with Moshanir’s hospitality and acknowledged the visit as a valuable and enriching experience.
What stood out most during this visit was the tireless effort of Moshanir’s dedicated, skilled, and experienced experts, who, despite numerous challenges and constraints, succeeded in advancing the project to the highest technological standards. This achievement will remain a lasting legacy of the commitment and efforts of the young supervising head, Dr. Amirreza Mali, who tragically passed away shortly after this visit due to an unfortunate accident.
We pray to Almighty God for the forgiveness and peace of his soul, and for patience and solace for his bereaved family.
