In line with the expansion of electricity generation in the northwest of the country and to meet the growing demand in the region, the Heris Combined Cycle Power Plant, of Class F type with an approximate efficiency of 58% under ISO conditions, is under construction on a site of 81 hectares (about 50 hectares allocated to the power plant section) in Sarāy village, Khajeh district, Heris county, East Azerbaijan Province, located 11 km along the Heris–Tabriz road.
This power plant is among the private sector projects, with Heris Power Generation Company as the investor, the Thermal Power Generation Holding Company as the beneficiary, and Moshanir Company as the consultant to the beneficiary.
The main equipment of the project, arranged in a 1+1 configuration, includes:

•    One Ansaldo AEN94.3 Class F gas turbine unit with a capacity of 310 MW
•    One Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) of the Horizontal Triple Pressure type with separate burners
•    One Ansaldo AEN MT15 three pressure steam turbine unit with a capacity of 180 MW
•    A main cooling system of the ACC type

The gas unit of this power plant was synchronized with the national grid on August 8, 2019, and its commercial operation commenced in June 2020. The steam unit of the Heris Power Plant, following the successful completion of prerequisite synchronization tests, was finally synchronized with the national grid on November 2, 2021.
