Masjed-Soleyman Power Plant Expansion Project

Stage Main construction works were completed in 2009, while minor finishing activities continued until 2013. The generating units were commissioned between 2007 and 2009.

Technical Specifications

•     Underground power Plant as an extension of Phase I
•     Installation of four turbine-generator units, each rated at 250 MW

Role of Moshanir Company

Moshanir was responsible for all engineering services, including feasibility studies, Phase I, II, and III design and implementation.
Key Achievements
•     Expansion increased the total installed capacity of Masjed-Soleyman Dam and Power Plant from 1,000 MW to 2,000 MW.
•     A significant portion of generation was shifted from off-peak and mid-load hours to peak demand periods.
•     Average annual generation: 3,700 GWh, ranking first among hydroelectric power plants in Iran.
•    Power Plant: Underground pumped storage type, equipped with 4 vertical Francis units

•    High level supervision
•    Management and control of design revisions
•    On site supervision

Special Achievements

•    First pumped storage dam in Iran
•    Hydropower generation capacity of 1,040 MW during load peak period
•    Electricity consumption capacity of 960 MW during off peak period.
